Please Pray...

For peace, mental and physical rest, for a calm spirit. For me, for my department, for my boss, for "decision-makers". There are a lot of changes that will be coming. As far as details, what little I know I am not yet at liberty to disclose. And those of you who know how much I get freaked/stressed out by changes (good or bad) can probably imagine how well I'm handling anticipating big-deal-changes without any real information to go on as far as what and how much mental/emotional/financial preparation I need to be doing...

He loves me - He loves me a lot!

Tonight Kevin took me out for my birthday dinner and to give me my birthday present. After keeping me in suspense for nearly a month, we got to share fun quality time, decent food and he gave me a super surprising, super pretty present. I wouldn't have guessed for anything that it would be jewelry. I love it!
He picked a heart so I can look at it and remember how much he loves me and picked the one with the prettiest curves - like me!

20 things you may or may not know about me

  1. I'll pick an action movie over a chick flick 99 times out of 100.

  2. I recently discovered Hulu and am now totally addicted.

  3. I knit and crochet and want to learn tatting next.

  4. I donated 17 inches of hair to Locks of Love last Christmastime.

  5. For more than 2 weeks in 1998 I ate ONLY oranges.

  6. In 2002 I did the same thing, eating ONLY red and yellow peppers.

  7. I have published over a dozen poems and am in the process of compiling my works into a book.

  8. I majored in English Lit and I have not enjoyed reading very much since.

  9. I have over 60 pairs of shoes and wear them all fairly regularly.

  10. I have taught social dances including ballroom and latin, and currently still teach swing dancing (not ballroom swing, but the kind that actually "swings").

  11. I have been medically diagnosed as having mild OCD.

  12. I know how lucky I am to have a job that I love and a boss that I respect and like.

  13. I collect journals/journaling books, but must find a perfect matching (in appearance and ink color) before I will write in them.
  14. I'd rather spend a perfect sunny day cleaning my house than a rainy one - I find it's more cheery and motivating.
  15. I love the physical act of typing. In high school, I used to copy out of the dictionary because I couldn't think up my own things to type fast enough. I'd love to hire myself out to college students needing papers or anything else transcribed.
  16. I am not a coffee snob. As much as I enjoy a good Starbucks or local high-quality coffee, I also manage to enjoy a cup of Folgers instant coffee (no, I don't buy it, but I'll drink it if it's there) - It's really more of a nostalgic thing as that's the first "coffee" I tasted than a question of taste/flavor.
  17. My shoes and purse MUST always match (or coordinate if one is patterned).
  18. Every single day from my 20th birthday in 2001 until the day before my brother's wedding in November 2006 my toenails were perpetually cherry or candy-apple red.
  19. I got to see Terry Fator live, 2nd row seats, in March 2009! He is the most incredibly amazing, phenomenally talanted man I have every had the pleasure of seeing live and honor of meeting. Please check out his website - terryfator.com - and GO SEE HIM if you are ever in Las Vegas.
  20. I cry excessively easily; a sappy song on the radio or Hallmark commercial on TV will get me going. I have yet to watch the ending of The Little Mermaid without sobbing.

Exciting News!!

Lilly is going to be a Big Sister!

I'm going to be an auntie again! Well, I guess technically I'm going to be an auntie "still", but "again" gets the point across better. They don't have a due date yet, but I think it's supposed to be early 2010.

Birthday Art

Katy's violets
We were both SUPER thrilled with our artist, Duane. Unfortunately we did not get a very good picture of mine before it was saran wrapped and now it's looking like it's healing, so I'll just have to wait and about 6 weeks to show it off better.

Happy Mother's Day!

To all of my friends who are mothers:

You are beautiful!
You are cherished!
You are a blessing to your children and you will be honored by your Father in Heaven.

Yes, each and every one of you. I know it's a "blanket" post and I thought about writing one for each of you... but that would take longer than I have left at a computer with internet. So, that leaves me with one great pronouncement -

You deserve a full and wonderful day every day and I hope that each of you were able to spend thsi Mother's Day celebrating all that mothers are and all that they do for their (and YOUR) families all year long.

Today my heart is full

on Easter Sunday I finally stopped worrying about life long enough to reflect on all I do have. My eyes keep tearing, but my heart is full.

...My hope is built on nothing less Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness. I dare not trust the sweetest frame, But wholly trust in Jesus’ Name.

...At the cross, at the cross where I first saw the light, And the burden of my heart rolled away, It was there by faith I received my sight, And now I am happy all the day!...

...Christ the Lord is risen today, allelujah! Sons of men and angels say, allelujah! Raise your voice and triumphs high, allelujah! Seek ye Heaven, and earth rejoice, allelujah!...

...Come, Thou Fount of every blessing, Tune my heart to sing Thy grace; Streams of mercy, never ceasing, Call for songs of loudest praise. Teach me some melodious sonnet, Sung by flaming tongues above. Praise the mount! I’m fixed upon it, Mount of Thy redeeming love...

...Why should I feel discouraged, why should the shadows come, Why should my heart be lonely, and long for heaven and home, When Jesus is my portion? My constant friend is He: His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me; His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me....

...For I know my redeemer lives, and in the end he will stand on the earth. For I know my redeemer lives, and in the end he will reign on the earth....

...Trust and obey, for there’s no other way to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey....

...Blessèd assurance, Jesus is mine! O what a foretaste of glory divine! Heir of salvation, purchase of God, Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood....

Vegas Baby!

WooHoo!! 2 days to go till we fly out for a whole week in (what I really hope is) sunshine! YAAY!!! I get to have my Christmas present now - a week in Las Vegas!

4 days at the WCC tournament at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas followed by 4 days just hanging out and seeing what we can. AND we get to see Terry Fator! He is incredible - seriously. If you have not heard of him, you really should look him up on YouTube. He won America's Got Talant last year, most deservedly, and along with a million dollars gets his own live show at the Mirage!

Well, it's sure been awhile...

...and I still got nothin'. *sigh*

Is there such thing as "liver's block"? like writer's block? ... no, not liver like kidney or spleen, but liver like one who lives. yeah, yeah, I know that isn't a real word but so what. I deal every single day with physicians who make up all kinds of words so I can too. :-)

It's gotta be the weather. We did get a few days in a row of sunshine last week which did WONDERS for my outlook, but now it's been a dull, droll, and disappointing grey day after grey day. I suppose it'll get nice out sooner or later... I just keep hoping for sooner than later.

I'm going to need a 12-step program

I'm addicted to Hulu! Bewitched, Lost in Space, Major Dad, Remington Steele, Reba, Bones, House, Burn Notice! *sigh* I'll never get any work done again...

Life should mean more

I read this today on a blog and cried. I thought I would share it hear on the blog so that more people are able to help protect the life of unborn children.

As most of you know, Obama made a public announcement that he is going to sign the Freedom Of Choice Act, which will allow all types of abortions including partial birth abortions, also allowing babies who are born alive due to botched up late term abortions, to be set aside without any medical care or nourishment and left to die (most of these babies have no medical problems and most of the ones that do, have things like cleft palates, club feet, things that are correctable, still they are murdered in the most cruel and inhuman way. They feel everything that is happening to them. There is more mercy for dogs that are put to sleep) This Bill also will make it mandatory for doctors and nurses to perform this murderous act even if they do not want to do so. This act also allows under age teens to have an abortion, even partial birth abortions, without parental consent.

Catholic Bishops have pleaded with Obama not to go ahead with this horrible murder of innocent babies. They have also told Obama that if he persists in signing this Bill which would require even Catholic Hospitals to perform these acts of murder, they will have no choice but to close all Catholic Hospitals. Please let us join with these courageous Bishops who will go to any length to change Obama's mind. Please take a minute to sign this statement and let our voices be heard.

This is a great, informative website. You can click on the video of Obama's speech to the Planned Parenthood group where he promised that the first thing he would do if elected President would be to sign the Freedom Of Choice Act. He isn't even in the White House yet and he made a statement last night that he will go forward with his plans to sign this outrageous bill. He still can change his mind because the Bill cannot be signed until he is actually the President. Please let your family and friends know about this Bill and ask them to also sign this petition. Please click on the web site below. It will take less than a minute of your time, doesn't cost anything and God will bless you for standing up for Him and His commandment, "Thou shalt not kill". "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is that good people do nothing."

Please click on the link below to sign petition. It doesn't take but a minute to do.

Resolutions...?

I'm horrible at resolutions. Well, maybe the years that I've actually made any resolutions my expectations were too high. So, this year, I decided to actually try to make some attainable resolutions and follow through.

1. Wear more dangly earrings. I made this resolution a couple years ago and did all right wearing them more often, and I'm going to try to up it from special occasions to every week.
2. Actually make the dentist appointment that I've been talking about for the last 5 years.
3. Be purposely thankful for something, big or little, every day.
4. Stop drinking lattes - I want to see at least how long I can go by switching to Americanos.

Happy New Year!

Well, 2008 has been quite a year! So many exciting things and yet I don't want to bore you with a 7-page letter -- Haha! So, I'll just touch briefly on some of the most notable events to me!

· January brought my 1 year anniversary dating Kevin and settling into a new apartment with my little brother Christopher.
· April 2 Lilly was born to my brother Michael and sister-in-law Kristin and I became an auntie!
· In May I turned 27 and so far it's been a good age to me.
· June opened up a promotion opportunity for me to become the third Transcription Department Lead at SJH.
· Kevin and I got to spend the 4th of July with my family out on Lummi Island.
· I got to spend Thursdays in August in Redmond babysitting the cutest baby in the world (yes, I mean Lilly of course!).
· September and October and November were pretty uneventful. I still got to babysit Lilly one Thursday a month. It was a busy fall at work as we prepared for a software upgrade.
· December brought snow and twinkly lights and smiles by fires and wishes for you a very Merry Christmas with loved ones and many happy memories of this season of Joy!

Holiday Hugs to you!
